No longer "in the country"...
Alf moved to 11 Poole Road, West Ewell, in 1937,
aged almost 16.
Danetree Road School remains in 2003, as does the "Hogsmill River"
open space.
Maps of this area don't form part of the London A-Z in the 1950's and 1980's, hence the use of a 2003 map.
Use Google to see the same map of West Ewell (Epsom)
The family moved to 11 Wordsworth Drive in 1938,
then to nearby Malden Road in 1940.
It must have been much more convenient for Alf to go to work for Kingston's
butchers here in North Cheam, rather than cycle to Venners in New Malden.
Alf's family remained around this area - Sutton, Cheam, New Malden, Worcester Park and nearby Wimbledon - for many more years; some are now back living there.

Most photos taken by Alf and most illustrations drawn by him; scanned from
his albums, etc., now in my possession and digitally edited 2003-2005.
Yes, yes, the photos and layout need updating - the website was first designed in "dial-up days", before any sort of broadband, and everything had to be small so it uploaded and downloaded fast. Work to do, I know.
Website produced 2003-2013 by Mike Allen - a fatuous platitudes production.
